چکیده

Multiple scientific disciplines face a so-called crisis of reproducibility and replicability (R&R) in which the validity methodologies is questioned due to an inability confirm experimental results. Trust information technology (IT)-intensive workflows within geographic science (GIScience), remote sensing, photogrammetry depends on solutions R&R challenges affecting multiple computationally driven disciplines. To date, there have only been very limited efforts overcome R&R-related issues sensing general, let alone those tied unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) as disruptive technology. This review identifies key barriers to, suggests best practices for, geospatial UAS well broader applications. We examine both relevance existing support for assisted workflows. Key include: (1) awareness time resource requirements, (2) accessibility provenance, metadata, version control, (3) conceptualization problems, (4) variability between study areas. applications can be facilitated through augmented access provenance authorized stakeholders, establishment important aspect related research design. Where ethically possible, future work should exemplify by publishing open data sets Future also explore new avenues source data, methods adapt principles according stakeholder requirements.

Unmanned aircraft systems as wingmen

This paper introduces a method to integrate Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UASs) into a highly functional manned/ unmanned team through the design and implementation of 3D distributed formation/flight control algorithms with the goal to act as wingmen for a manned aircraft. The proposed algorithms are designed to increase UAS autonomy, dynamically modify formations, utilize standard operating forma...

Choosing Replanning Strategies for Unmanned Aircraft Systems

Unmanned aircraft systems use a variety of techniques to plan collision-free flight paths given a map of obstacles and nofly zones. However, maps are not perfect and obstacles may change over time or be detected during flight, which may invalidate paths that the aircraft is already following. Thus, dynamic in-flight replanning is required. Numerous strategies can be used for replanning, where t...

Avionics Systems Development for Small Unmanned Aircraft

The avionics systems for two small unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) are considered from the point of view of hardware selection, navigation and control algorithm design, and software development. Some common challenges for many small UAV systems are addressed, including gust disturbance rejection at low speeds, control power, and systems integration. A rapid prototyping simulation framework whic...

Replicability and Reproducibility in Comparative Psychology

Psychology faces a replication crisis. The Reproducibility Project: Psychology sought to replicate the effects of 100 psychology studies. Though 97% of the original studies produced statistically significant results, only 36% of the replication studies did so (Open Science Collaboration, 2015). This inability to replicate previously published results, however, is not limited to psychology (Ioan...
